Sending Fax with the Use of Internet

The Internet is quickly becoming one of the three dominant modes of communicating, the other two being face to face communication and by phone. The use of the internet has become so pervasive that now with a click of the button you can talk to anyone, chat with anyone and use services such as Skype to enjoy video communication with anyone.

Online faxes have largely replaced traditional faxing in most modern countries such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Coastal China. Even in rapidly declining and poverty-stricken countries, adoption of online faxing has been markedly prominent over the years.

Usually, the Internet involves use of e-mail as well as various web interfaces to communicate and share files either through faxing or simple File transfer protocol (FTP) based file transfers. Sending faxes using the Internet can be done either on your laptop, desktop, or even mobile devices, such as tablets or smartphones.

1. Advantages

One of the principle advantages of faxing over the Internet is that it does not require a fax machine, at least not one on the sender’s end. You can use a web interface to load the fax document, plug in all the recipient phone numbers, and send your document with a simple click on the “send” icon. It does not require reams of paper since you are sending a soft-copy of your document, which will be received as a hard copy to the recipients on their fax machines or multi-function printers connected to a telephone line. Online faxing is also eco-friendly and saves millions of trees, plastic, and fossil fuels, while reducing clutter.

2. How to Send a Fax on the Internet

To send faxes on the Internet you have to download or use a web interface. There are many online service providers who have built-in software you can use with an affordable monthly fee. If you have a small or medium sized business, you can easily provide your employees with a common online fax account which can be used whenever they need to send a fax.

Once you log in to the account after paying the requisite user fee, you can simply use their user interface to load the documents, and send to your clients or business partners. These online fax services also have an built-in recipient confirmation icon, so that the recipient can acknowledge that they received the fax documents satisfactorily on their end. Overall, online faxing is a revolutionary development which has made faxing more affordable, easy and quick.
